This program utilizes a hybrid delivery model that can include face-to-face meetings, synchronous online meetings, and asynchronous online coursework. Stem strand lessons This course is designed to help you to take the practice of a sport (any sport) and show and enhance STEM through the lens of sports. The course will shine a light on students who are motivated by sports and show how STEM can be incorporated into sports activities. This course includes inclusionary practices so that all kids can learn. Universal Design for Learning will also be a part of this course. This course includes a brief overview of STEM related standards, then asks participants to address their own standards. 15 clock hours.

STEM is not a single subject, and it should not replace other subjects. Students need to learn the same concepts and skills in science and mathematics as they did before, and how to solve problems through engineering design challenges. STEM experiences must be connected and support the goals of state science standards, as well as those established in A Framework for K–12 Science Education and articulated in the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS),by providing students the opportunity to grasp and experience the relevancy of what they are learning. For instance a symmetry art project will explore art based on geometry/math, building an insect hotel will require combining both science and engineering; it’s these connections that make the STEAM educational model more applicable to real world problems.
