Courses used to fulfill major requirements must be taken for a letter grade. If a required major course is taken Pass/No Pass, it would need to be repeated for a letter grade.  If a major elective is taken Pass/No Pass, it would need to be repeated for a letter grade or a different (letter-graded) elective would need to take its place. Exceptions may be made for coursework taken in Spring 2020, Fall 2020, Spring 2021, or Summer 2021. Featured Mathematics & Computer Science Programs To receive the B.S. in Applied Mathematical Sciences students must adhere to General Education  and School of Natural Sciences Requirements . The Applied Mathematical Sciences program consists of 78-83 units with a minimum of 20 courses designed to give all students a common foundation of core knowledge specific to the discipline, plus breadth in an application area.

It prepares students for graduate study or employment in the mathematical and computational sciences or in those areas of applied mathematics which center around the use of computers and are concerned with the problems of the social and management sciences. Discretizations & Methods In computational finance, some group members use finite difference methods to approximate solutions of stochastic optimal control problems. They have expertise in developing efficient numerical schemes to solve the associated PDEs and calibrate models against real data to enable simulations of projected future scenarios.
